In principle, anyone can invest in real estate in Montenegro. Such an investment even qualifies you for a temporary residence permit. However, we expressly recommend that you clarify all important questions in advance:

• When purchasing: Does the property have all the necessary papers? Is it registered as a residential property in the cadastre? Have all debts been paid?
• For properties: Does the property have a building permit or does this still have to be obtained?
• If renting: Is the owner willing to have the rental agreement notarized? This is the only way you can deduct the costs from taxes or receive a residence permit (after company formation)
